Casey van der Leek is a self taught South African artist and he showed a precocious talent for drawing from an early age.

Casey also has an avid interest in astronomy and particle physics and in 1999 began studying towards his second degree in electronic engineering at the University of Cape Town but after completing it in 2001 his ideas of working in the aerospace industry had waned and the success of his artistic career was sufficient reason for him to put all his efforts into a craft he had developed from its embryonic stage as a teenager into the quality work he is producing today. Living in the shadow of the De Jongh name, it was only natural that his style and outlook would follow a similar trend.
He also paints seascapes and wildlife and has visited Botswana, Victoria Falls and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro. He also has a liking for the Karroo with its austere beauty and lonely plains and the entire Cape Coast and Garden Route as well. Of course, the towering cliffs of Cape Point as seen from the sea and Table Mountain are just some of the highlights of this beautiful country.

He has works in private collections in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany and New Zealand and throughout South Africa.
